I'm in Central/Piedmont Virginia and love the natural beauty here. Grew up in Northern VA with wonderful finds there too. The earth is generous enough to give us the opportunity to find the treasures she hides...often just waiting for us...in broad daylight! 🙂

Use gas. Diamond saw . You could get great plates. It might be good to have a big guy to handle the saw.

I’m sorry but there is no way you found they cluster. Maybe you did but I’ve never seen those in VA

It's a lot cooler when you collect them without digging into already eroded and fragile hillsides. Looks like you're at the old briar fork store. I noticed evidence of digging last time I was up there. We locals enjoy collecting them as they emerge. Keep it sustainable, please.

That’s all we do when we go on vacation we are there for 7-11 days And we always hunt shark teeth but I always find mostly black I have found 1 red 1 grey . I would love to find the blue. We stay at crown reef every year. Is there any place you can recommend that we go look elsewhere

Any recommendations for cleaning these devils dice without the porcelain cleaner you used? Would tumbling with sand be ok? How hard are these cubes on the Mohs scale?

They weather out of the mica shirts of the Charlottesville Formation. We used to find them in historical Archeology sites not over the Charlottesville which implies colonial era folks were collecting them too.

Can you find them in any part of VA what do I need to look for when I want to hunt for them?

I live in Scott County Virginia. How far from there was this? I am trying to figure out if there are geodes, quartz etc... In my area. How would I know or find this information out?

I find those all over the place in Staunton, I just kinda started collecting them, but I never knew what they were called until now!
